Best sake bar in town! The barman knew each one and wrote a book about it. in english!! Fair prices and delicious finger foods. I miss that place.

The food is amazing, fried chicken and Kyoto style duck are must have dishes. They have a lot of sake collection, and the price is surprising affordable—500 Yen for single glass. Highly recommended for people who want to have a cozy evening with good food and sake.

A must try in Kyoto - the food , the sake, the service!! We came for a sake before dinner and ended having many glasses and an amazing dinner!

Great sake bar with some food

I tried Spicy Sausages, few slices of würstel, and french fries, the portion was so so so small. For me, the worst meal I had in Japan. And the Asahi seems to be mixed with water.

If you want to get the best authentic sake, this is the place. Snacks are good and sake are great! They have a wide selection of sakes that goes best for food or without. Please do not missed this place out if you are in Kyoto.

Amazing place to sample saké. Kind, patient and wise service with an impressive array of local tapas style dishes to accompany. Brilliant.

Very nice sake selection at a good price of 500 yen per glass. Good food as well. If you bring good company, you will have a great evening!

Very perplexed. The ratings are high but we went into restaurant twice and no one was there at prime time. Good selection of sake but highly priced. Food wasn't that good. All dishes pre-made almost nothing fresh. Couldn't recommend this to anyone.

A small hole in the wall. Very friendly staff. Food was unique. But nothing that's out of ordinary.
Michael Long
Very helpful for people new to sake. Try the yogurt sake if you can
Matthew Parker
Amazing selection of sake. Very friendly and helpful English-fluent staff.

This place was amazing, such a great find! My travel partner and I were interested in trying sake (we’re total novices) and the staff was super helpful in picking ones that fit our palette. They have a large menu filled with delicious tapa style plates—the chicken karaage and duck were particular highlights. Also an impressive menu of sake and other drinks. Great for happy hour or late night drinks if you’re in the area!

Love this place! Staff are really kind and helpful if you need help picking out your sake. I came back here for the second time after my last trip to Japan and I hope there is a 3rd to come soon! Please try the plum wine.

Amazing sake bar, went twice and can't wait to go back. They have a book with English descriptions of all the sake, seriously can't go wrong. Love how the sake is served too, just a fun place.

This Sake Bar was recommended by our guide from a walking tour of Kyoto. The staff were great, our host was awesome at presenting and explaining the sake. They have English menus, no cover but they do have a 2 drink minimum which was fine considering their price point is very reasonable. About 500 yen for each drink. Would recommend for a friendly sake experience!

Nice place to go out!! Variety sake selection. Order by glass(500yen) tried many kind of sake. And dish is good too.

Great place to experience a variety of sake from around the country. There's a large menu to choose from and a full glass and plus some is just 500 yen. It's got more seating than the typical standing sake bar, and the waitress spoke great English. There are also small snacks that complement the sake.

I visit the place on my last night of the trip and end up a very satisfying night. You can try a lot of Sake here, food is delicious, place is close to the transportation, staff is very kind and helpful, price is reasonable.Highly recommend place to drink or trying sake with delicious food at night.

Great little bar to while away an hour or two

Very tasty food and friendly staff

Good prices and good sake. Great for the tourist who doesn't speak Japanese.

Great Sake menu. 300Â¥ cover charge which includes vegetables on coal. Ask for recommendations as there are over 40 sales for about 500Â¥ poured the proper way, over flowing in a box. Recommend the smoked duck with miso and spring onion and the Karaage.
Christopher Gillespie
Great staff, super friendly and knowledgeable. 40 bottle selection, with great discriptions and 500 yen per glass. The appitizer is cook your own veggies on table grill. Kanpai!
Chris Michael
Great spot for sake and small bites!

Nice place to get original saké from Kyoto. Good meals too!

There are various kinds of sake and food. Foods are expected to be great based on even kinda special french fries we ordered. The staff is very fluent in English and sociable, so you can communicate very easily. Though, sake is pricey for me.
Tyler Armstrong
Great sake selection. Didn't mind that we just stopped in for a few drinks. 300 yen cover but included a small appetizer

Staff are super friendly and the food and sake is delicious. Even if you don't know much about sake they have very detailed information in English about all the varieties they stock.
Dani Hayes
Wonderful Japanese tapas! The food has simple ingredients with complex flavors. Great array of sake and an English menu with staff that spoke English well. Loved the okra!!!
Nick Evans
The staff and the sake are great, but I think it may be a bit of a tourist trap for dinner. To be honest they might even be gaming the reviews on trip advisor and google, because the food is really no better than OK compared to what you can get elsewhere. Not terrible, but just not very good. It’s OK.

Great place for trying all kinds of sake and eating good snacks/small dishes. I can recommend borh the duck and the deep fried oysters.
Penny Creagh
Now serves soba noodles, but they were delicious!!

Good service. And good drinks.

Wow! What a find. This place had excellent small plates, and great service. They also have a huge sake selection that is reasonably priced. For food, we tried the duck, fried tofu, chicken neck, and pickles. The duck and chicken neck were both amazing—the neck was fatty and not overly tough or chewy, and had great flavor. The duck was cooked perfectly. Pickles were really good too, they were more of a fresh/new pickle, so they’re crunchy and had good acidity. My table mate raved about the fried tofu, but I didn’t try it (it looked like a soft tofu though, lightly greased and fried). The staff was also really willing to recommend different sakes and help us choose some we would like. I’d definitely recommend this place for a few drinks/snacks

Great food. awesome sake selection. and very nice and attentive staff. Felt essentially like a japanese style tapas bar. lots of small shareable plates.I had the sandfish, kyoto duck, fried chicken, fried oysters, crab spinach side, and the fried tofu. kyoto duck is a must. nearly everything else was still good but the duck stood out. the tofu was not as deep fried as expected so was quite mushy. I'm not a fan of mushy tofu. The recommendations for sake were great by the staff and they have a sake book with English and japanese descriptions and dryness levels that was helpful in deciding as well.place is pretty tight as most places in the area. but could fit a couple small groups.price is reasonable. around 400 to 600 yen for each dish and 500 to 600 yen for most sake or beer.

This place was so fun and had a wonderful atmosphere. They were very welcoming of foreigners and they gave us an English-speaking server. They let us try 6+ different types of sake over the course of the night and helped find something for everyone's different tastes. It's a great establishment and I can't recommend it enough!

Yes, Wadachi has great small plates and excellent drinks. You will find mostly tourists here, so decide what you will. The prices are fair for a place mostly tourists visit. They have comfy small tables and places to charge your smartphone. The service is good and surprisingly excellent English is spoken here. You won’t go away hungry or confused by what you thought you ordered, but you might go home a bit hungry as a Westerner.
